Strengthening Compliance, Promoting Transparency, and Building Trust in Namibia’s Real Estate Sector

26 October 2026 | Rightmove Properties Windhoek

Rightmove Properties Windhoek was proud to participate in Namibia’s inaugural Anti-Money Laundering and Combating the Financing of Terrorism (AML/CFT) Conference, held on 12–13 October 2026 at the Windhoek Country Club & Resort.

Organised by Namibia’s Financial Intelligence Centre (FIC), the two-day conference brought together representatives from the public and private sectors, regulatory authorities, and industry stakeholders to discuss strengthening Namibia’s financial integrity and combating financial crime.

Representing Rightmove Properties were Lourette Liebenberg and Eleazar Mwakipesile, with Lourette also having the honour of participating as a panellist at the conference, contributing to discussions on matters of importance to Namibia’s regulatory and business environment.

Rightmove Properties Represented on the Panel

A particular highlight for Rightmove Properties was Lourette Liebenberg’s participation as a panellist, representing the real estate industry at this important national event.

Her involvement provided an opportunity for the real estate sector to be represented in broader conversations surrounding financial integrity, regulatory compliance, and the role of businesses in combating financial crime.

As an experienced real estate professional, Lourette's participation reflects Rightmove Properties' commitment to remaining actively engaged in discussions that shape the future of the industry.

Strengthening Namibia’s Financial Integrity

Held under the theme “From Prevention to Recovery: Strengthening Namibia’s AML/CFT Framework for Sustainable Effectiveness,” the conference highlighted the importance of moving beyond regulatory compliance towards meaningful and sustainable measures to prevent financial crime.

Key areas addressed included anti-money laundering, countering terrorist financing, identifying financial crime risks, improving reporting practices, and strengthening cooperation between regulatory authorities and the private sector.

The conference also marked an important milestone with the launch of the FIC’s inaugural AML/CFT/CPF Financial System Integrity Report.

The Importance of Compliance in Real Estate

As an industry that facilitates significant financial transactions, the real estate sector plays an important role in safeguarding the integrity of Namibia’s financial system.

Effective compliance practices, including customer due diligence, identity verification, risk assessments, and the identification of suspicious transactions, are essential to ensuring that property transactions are conducted responsibly and transparently.

For Rightmove Properties, staying informed about developments in the regulatory environment is an important part of maintaining professional standards and protecting clients' interests.

Rightmove Properties Windhoek's attendance and active participation at the conference demonstrate the agency's dedication to professional development, industry engagement, and responsible real estate practices.
